Posted 8/16/2011The French Revolution Was a Humanist Attempt to Erase History, or His Story
The bloody rampage of the guillotine and mass drownings known as bathing parties is what most people think of when one speaks of the French Revolution. This is only one aspect of the French Revolution, which was titled by its founders, Voltaire, Rousseu. et al., as the enlightenment. Modern historians would like you to continue to separate the philosophy from the logical outworking of that philosophy; the mass murder of thousands: and ironically more commoners were killed than were the elite. The re-writing of history, separating the murderous rampage from the enlightenment, is another logical outworking of the French Revolution. The enemies of Christianity know better than Christians that history is an enormous obstacle for unbelievers to overcome.
The enlightenment started long before September 22, 1792. Someone has even posited that the enlightenment had its genesis in sixteenth century England, when under King Henry VIII anti-Christian sentiment began to rise there. This anti-Christian attitude was still prevalent during Voltaire's exile to London. Nonetheless, for the leaders of the French Revolution September 22, 1792 became the year one, in an attempt to erase history and Christianity out of the minds of the people.
Romans 1:18 – 24 exclaims that a knowledge of God has been given to all men. Undoubtedly, without an understanding of why, the enlightenment leaders understood that no experiment in secular society could stand as long as Christianity is allowed to stand. It became necessary to eliminate Christianity. In order to do this it was necessary to eliminate history, because the hand of God is imprinted throughout history.
As the enlightenment has progressed since its defeat during the French Revolution its proponents have become more devious in the way that they accomplish their purposes of eliminating Christianity. They first trumpet tolerance, and pluralism; tolerating everything except Biblical Christianity, and praising every belief except those of Biblical Christianity. They are still cognizant that history cannot be allowed to demonstrate the hand of God in the affairs of men. They also learned that eliminating history is not possible. So, instead of attempting to erase history, as they did during the French Revolution, they now seek to reinterpret history through the lens of pagan philosophies of old. Much of history now simply ignores the influence of God and His people, or presents all Christian influence as evil.
Remember that it is the enemies of God that are evil. Do not forget that mass murder was an integral part of the French Revolution. Above all, understand that when you avoid learning history, through the lens of providence, you are falling into the trap of those who are trying to eliminate Christianity from society. They failed in France in the eighteenth century. The defeat of this anti-Christian philosophy in the twenty-first century is now in your hands. |
